Fifteen neighbors
became gatekeepers.
On a Wednesday evening in Fort Worth, fifteen people learned how to ask the question that can keep a veteran alive — and practiced asking it out loud before they went home.
Ninety seconds from the first delivery — including attendees practicing with the AI role-play.

One night. One county. A real start.
What a gatekeeper actually learns.
Notice.
The signs aren’t always obvious. In veterans, they are often masked by habits that kept them alive in uniform. A gatekeeper learns to recognize them anyway.
Ask.
Are you thinking about suicide? Clear is kind. The myth that asking plants the idea has been debunked for decades. For most people who are struggling, being asked directly is a relief.
Listen.
Not to fix. Not to reassure. To stay in the room. To buy time. To take what they say seriously without arguing their feelings.
Connect.
The gatekeeper does not hand someone a number. They make the call together — to 988 press 1, to a clinician, to the ER if the risk is immediate.
What’s new here.
Most QPR training ends with paper scenarios. Ours ends with practice.
Traditional gatekeeper training is a lecture followed by a worksheet. That’s the format the field has used for thirty years. It works — but only barely. Attendees know the steps; they don’t necessarily feel ready to take them.
Renewed Path built something new. QPR Trainer V2 is an AI-powered conversation partner that lets every attendee practice the question — out loud, with stakes, in a safe room — before they leave. The first time someone asks are you thinking about suicide? should never be in their friend’s kitchen at 2 AM. It should be here, with us, where we can guide them.
“The AI role-play you developed is a phenomenal tool.”

Veterans and families, in their own words.
The AI role-play you developed is a phenomenal tool.
Renewed Path — specifically David — helped guide me through attaining VA benefits when my family was in crisis from the 2025 government shutdown.
Working with David from Renewed Path helped connect me to VA benefits I wouldn’t have been able to achieve without his help.
Tarrant County, every chair filled.
Tarrant County, every chair filled. Recently separated veterans. Spouses and adult children of veterans. Faith leaders. A schoolteacher. A retired controller. Neighbors who came because someone they loved had served. The course is built for the whole community — because suicide doesn’t only touch the veteran.
